Promising Entries for Sunderland Puppy Competition

The ARC Puppy Cup at Sunderland has attracted a strong field this year, reflecting the positive impact of increased prize money. With the winner now set to take home £7,500, up from £6,000 last year, the competition has drawn a full entry of 24 promising young greyhounds, including a notable contingent from the South.

Among the entries is March On Freddie, trained by David Mullins, who recently clocked an impressive 28.98 at Hove. Adding to the competitive mix is Midlands-based Untold Quetzal, showcasing sub-27-second trial form, highlighting the quality and speed expected in this year's event.

Phil Milner's 'Keefills' have also entered the fray, bringing pups with a blend of raw talent and burgeoning experience. The local hopefuls, however, are not to be overlooked. Tom Heilbron's exciting prospect, Untold Rubel, stands out with a remarkable 27.25 run over Doncaster's 450m, signaling a strong challenge from the home turf.

Racing Manager Joe Frelford has expressed satisfaction with the balanced seeding, which includes 9 railers, 9 middle seeds, and 6 wide runners. Despite ARC no longer requiring mandatory trials, all 24 entrants have trialled at the track, ensuring a high standard of preparation and familiarity with the conditions.

This year's ARC Puppy Cup promises to be a thrilling spectacle with a blend of seasoned trainers and emerging talents, all vying for the substantial prize and prestige that comes with victory in this prestigious event. The increased prize fund has clearly incentivised a top-tier entry, setting the stage for an exciting competition.
