National Sprint Final: A Thrilling Showdown Ahead
The Richie Taberner-trained contender, born in September 2022 to Dorotas Wildcat and Seaglass Shadow, stands as one of two Monmore finalists aiming to cap a successful 2024 campaign for their littermates, Bockos Diamond and March On Freddie.
Bockos Diamond shattered records in the BoyleSports Irish Derby at Shelbourne Park under Graham Holland’s care, while March On Freddie claimed August’s JenningsBet Puppy Classic at Nottingham for David Mullins. Now, with Aero Pattika’s semi-final victory on Monday, the litter has a shot at securing a major Colwick Park double.
Aero Pattika seized victory in the first semi-final, overcoming defending champion Bombout Bullet (trained by Belinda Green) with a decisive inside move between the first and second bends. Although Kevin Hutton’s hot favourite, Rioja Oisin, closed the gap late, Aero Pattika held firm to win by three-quarters of a length, clocking 17.79 seconds (+10).
The second semi-final saw Stonepark Hoffa deliver a commanding performance, posting the fastest time of the evening. Savva Roberts’ Sunderland Classic semi-finalist surged to the lead before pulling away for a three-length triumph in 17.58 seconds (+10), with Newinn Souly (Kim Billingham-Hine) securing a place in Monday’s final.
In the third semi-final, Niosfearrnabolt, trained by Chloe Hardy, demonstrated dominance. Taking the lead at the first bend, he widened the gap to three and three-quarter lengths, finishing in 17.59 seconds (+10). Alien Bolt, another Taberner-trained runner, claimed the runner-up spot, securing Richie Taberner a second finalist for the National Sprint.
Nottingham’s general manager, David Evans, expressed excitement for Monday’s showdown, calling it a “fantastic pre-Christmas treat.” He praised the Monmore trainers, Richie Taberner and Kim Billingham-Hine, who together contribute half the field, alongside strong Newcastle representation from Chloe Hardy and Savva Roberts, and a finalist from Oxford under Kevin Hutton.
Evans highlighted the event’s significance, describing it as the “end-of-year sprint championship” and promising a vibrant atmosphere both trackside and in the restaurant for Nottingham’s last meeting before Christmas.
