Greyhound of the Year Awards: Nominees Revealed
GBGB is pleased to announce the contenders for the eight greyhound categories at the upcoming 2023 Greyhound of the Year Awards.
The annual Awards recognise the exceptional performances of greyhounds across Great Britain throughout the year, as well as the dedication of the hard-working individuals who support their racers.
The nominees showcase the wide range of top talent that graced our tracks in 2023, from dual Golden Jacket winner and TV Trophy heroine Bellmore Sally to last year’s Marathon Performer of the Year Space Jet and British-bred newcomer King Memphis, among others.
This year’s Nominations Panel comprises Jonathan Hobbs (GWA Chair), Dave Baldwin (Arena Racing Company), Joe Conneely, (GTV), Darrell Williams (GWA), Steve Nash (GWA), Liz Mort (BGBF), Mark Burridge (Burridge Trophies), Scott Harvey (GBGB), Mark Moisley (GBGB), Duncan Gibson (GBGB), Peter Harnden (GBGB Trainers’ Rep) and Ian Foster (GBGB Owners’ Rep).
Scott Harvey, GBGB Racing Operations Executive, said:
“There were some outstanding performances in 2023, and we didn’t have to wait long with Links Maverick landing the Northern Puppy Derby at Newcastle at the start of the year, the first in his trilogy of Cat One wins. Droopys Clue has been sensational too, and the judging panel have had their work cut out for them in certain categories thanks to another great year of action on the track.”
