Empress Stakes Semis Take Center Stage at Towcester

All eyes are on the second semi-final, a race that promises to be as thrilling as the final itself.

Three of the top contenders in the ante-post betting, and three of the fastest heat winners, are set to clash. New Destiny, the quickest qualifier from last week, recorded a time of 28.75 for Mark Wallis and will wear the red jacket this afternoon.

Queen Georgia, starting from trap three, posted a time of 28.86 in her previous race. Known for her stamina, she is expected to be the strongest contender among the top trio. After finishing second to Droopys Clue in the Ladbrokes Summer Stayers at Monmore, Queen Georgia will be looking to position herself well early on and outlast the competition.

Avongate Venus, trained by Phil Milner, ran a solid 29.01 in her first-round victory. Having shown impressive form throughout the summer with times of 28.70s and 28.80s, she is fully capable of improving on that and could be a key player in what promises to be a thrilling race.

In the first semi-final, Leighas Dream stands out as the other greyhound to break the 29-second barrier last week. The ARC Angel of the North runner-up set a sharp 28.84 for Barry Denby. Although Signet Tess will likely challenge her early on, Leighas Dream’s superior all-around pace could give her the edge.

Icemans Girl delivered a visually striking performance in her heat win under Nathan Hunt. With an empty trap one and a slower starter in trap two, she is poised to accelerate early and secure her spot in what’s shaping up to be a spectacular final on September 15.
