Surprise Wins and Thrilling Finishes from Monday Races
Monday's greyhound races delivered excitement and surprises, with two higher-priced winners emerging from the five contests. While early favourites gave punters something to cheer about, unexpected victories stole the show as the night unfolded.
The evening kicked off with Christopher Gilbert's Tip Top Maverick living up to expectations in a sprint race. After showcasing solid trial times leading up to the event, he sealed the deal with an impressive 17.82, setting the tone for a competitive night.
In a thrilling 500m race, Colin Wilton secured a one-two finish with his kennelmates. Although the favourite, Crafty Pardiso, couldn’t catch her stablemate Tens On, the latter claimed victory with a time of 29.91. Peter Harnden's Salacres Tipster followed up his success at Gone To The Dogs – Live! by finishing just a fraction slower than Tens On.
The most gripping contest of the night came in the 740m race, where Vale Bluebell narrowly edged out Salacres Cath. However, their return to 680m saw Jason Gray’s Loxleys Forest, a 9/1 outsider, steal the spotlight with a winning time of 41.72.
Adding to the night’s surprises was Sunderland’s Emers Macie, trained by Dean Blackbird. The 25/1 long shot clinched victory in a sprint race, stopping the clock at 18.18, and leaving the crowd buzzing.
Monday’s mix of expected results and shock wins proved to be a night to remember, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the final race.
