Promising Week for British-Bred Greyhounds
Last week has shown great promise for British-bred greyhounds, starting with the first appearance of Signet Denver's progeny at Towcester. Frank Gray's young pup, Makeit Denverbay, born in April 2023 out of Makeit Bombay, made a memorable debut. Despite a rough start, trailing the pack by five lengths and falling eight lengths behind the leader at the first bend, the pup showed impressive speed, finishing just three-quarters of a length behind in the D4 sprint.
Keep an eye on another rising star, King Iggy, bred from King Sheeran and Queen Izzy in April 2023. Trained by Tony Collett for the KSS Syndicate, King Iggy has already secured two victories in his first three sprint races, despite a tendency to give up early ground at the traps. His next outing will be on Monday, with his four-bend debut scheduled for Saturday in a maiden open.
At the KSS kennels, yet another April 2023 pup, King Jackson, had his first solo four-bend run at Central Park on Monday. Clocking an impressive 29.13, Jackson, bred from Magical Bale and Queen Beyonce, is showing early potential. To put his time in perspective, the fastest race of the day came in at 29.74. Keep an eye on these young talents as they continue to progress.
