Long Fellow Eyes Glory
George Sell, the leader of the Horse & Hound Six Syndicate, is proud of their greyhound, Long Fellow, who was named after legendary jockey Lester Piggott. Long Fellow has already claimed the Cowley Puppy Collar at Oxford earlier this year and finished runner-up to Aero Sacundai in the Pall Mall at the same track.
George shared that when they initially bought Long Fellow as a puppy, the goal was always to own a top-tier, open-class greyhound. He expressed his satisfaction with how the dog has developed and was thrilled to see him reach his third Category One final.
According to George, Long Fellow has been growing stronger with age and can handle the 480m race distance, though anything longer would be pushing it. Trap three is the perfect position for him, as he has recently struggled to break cleanly from trap one. However, his semifinal performance from trap three was impressive, where he made a quick start and ran strongly to qualify for the final.
The final promises to be a competitive affair, George noted, with three early-pace greyhounds up against three strong finishers, making it a tightly contested race. He added that with only six spots separating the four fastest qualifiers, it's sure to be an exciting race. George and many friends and family members plan to be trackside to cheer Long Fellow on.
