Droopys Eunice Shines in Gold Collar Semis
Droopys Eunice cemented her place as a major contender by storming to victory in the third semi-final of the Jay & Kay Coach Tours Gold Collar at Crayford on Sunday. This exceptional win adds to the impressive streak of Romford trainer Maxine Locke’s kennel, following Droopys Display's triumph in last month’s Kent Derby at Central Park.
A finalist in the Oaks, Droopys Eunice delivered the fastest time of the semi-finals, clocking 33.28 seconds. She showcased her grit in a thrilling duel with Allowdale Cazoo, the February Peter Bussey Memorial Trophy champion. Though Allowdale Cazoo initially led the field, Droopys Eunice surged ahead in a gripping head-to-head battle, ultimately securing a decisive three-length victory.
The first semi-final saw an exhilarating finish as Aayamza Sydney, another seasoned finalist, snatched victory from kennelmate Wrighty by a short head in 33.55 seconds. Wrighty had dominated for much of the race, but Aayamza Sydney’s late burst of power proved unstoppable, ensuring a one-two finish for trainer John Mullins.
Ricky Holloway’s Slick Sabo stole the spotlight in the second semi-final with a brilliant start that left his competitors scrambling to catch up. Clocking 33.74 seconds, Slick Sabo maintained his lead throughout, while Tony Welch’s Savana Moo finished strongly to claim second place and secure a spot in Sunday’s £10,000 final.
In the Ladbrokes Grand National semi-finals, Signet Harper delivered the standout performance of the day, leading the second semi from the outset and crossing the line in a swift 23.30 seconds. His kennelmates Patterdale Zorro and Magical Oscar followed to secure their places in the final. Meanwhile, the first semi saw Chippy Brady narrowly edge out Dazl Hermes and Traceys Sydney in 23.74 seconds.
