Daily Greyhound Tips – February 21

Wednesday column covers Perry Barr, Romford, and Yarmouth.

They kick off this Wednesday with an A3 at Perry Barr at 19:21. Headford Misty (4) is a pup to keep on the right side of, having won three of her four starts, rising from A7 to A3 in that time. She has convincingly won her races, and there's still a lot more to come considering she’s an August ’22 pup.

Misty should clear her rivals on the run to the first bend, but it's down the back where she's expected to really open up and extend her lead. Despite another penalty, she should take it in her stride. She is an exciting pup.

Darley Fire (1) is no slouch in this contest, having won twice in his last three starts, recording his quickest time when winning in A4 last time. He has some super split times and may well be challenging the selection on the run to the first bend. However, the hope is that Misty has too much speed for him down the back.

At Yarmouth, we have plenty of top-grade action, but focus on the A1 at 20:38. Alberts Legacy (3) has not been at his home track since December, but his recent trial was only three spots off his quickest time, showing his well-being. He usually gets off the mark quickly, and despite early company, the hope is that he can turn handy and make a winning return.

Alberts Legacy boasts a strong record at Yarmouth, being 13 from 22, most of them in this top grade, and a bold show is expected again here.

Facing tough rivals, Smores (5) could be another way to play this race after his convincing win last time out. While the split time might have been a bit of a fluke, if he repeats a 5.18 split, he will be a big threat. However, the expectation is that he reverts to his usual form.

They end with a staying competition at Romford at 21:02. Droopys Stairway (5) was an all-the-way winner in this grade of S1 last time, and a repeat is anticipated. With consistently quick split times, he should be ahead from the start. Although he doesn’t always start like a rocket, the confidence boost from his last win should make him tough to beat.

Droopys Stairway, with eight wins from eighteen starts in this grade, has the fastest time in the field, making him a strong contender.

The main threat is Barmouth Pearl (4), a bitch who likes to come from off the pace. Despite being second in a couple of recent S1 races, if she turns handy into the home straight, she poses a potent threat to the selection.
