Today's racing at Monmore kicks off with an intriguing S2 at 11:34 AM. The event features a mix of seasoned hounds and less experienced competitors, with only five combined runs over staying distances among the latter. SUGAR GIRL KATIE (Trap 1) is the standout for me, as her strong rail position should give her a significant advantage. Known for her quick early pace, she is expected to outmanoeuvre Longacres Porto (Trap 2), hopefully steering clear of any potential interference.
Katie boasts an impressive record, winning two out of her three races over the six-bend distance. Her staying power is notable, and despite a slow start in her penultimate race, she powered through to secure a decisive victory.
15:51 SUNDERLAND: YACHT AZZAM (Trap 4)
Later in the day, YACHT AZZAM (Trap 4) takes to the track at Sunderland for his second sprint at 15:51. He barely clinched victory in this grade back in July and has been on a break since then. His recent trial time was close to his personal best, and if he gets off to a strong start again, he could dominate this race.
Yacht Azzam has already secured five wins over four bends, and his team is aiming for similar success as he regains full fitness. In the meantime, he appears well-positioned to claim a few more sprint victories at Sunderland, particularly if he can establish an early lead.
21:46 ROMFORD: YOUNG VELVET (Trap 4)
Finally, YOUNG VELVET (Trap 4) is set to chase a double in the S1 at Romford later tonight at 21:46. Although she's had only seven runs over the 575m at Romford, she's won four of them. The only time she missed the frame was due to significant trouble during the race.
Young Velvet's latest victory was her fastest yet, suggesting there's more to come. While her wide draw isn't ideal, her early speed should propel her to the front. Even if she drifts slightly, she likely won't face much opposition from the outer traps.
