Daily Greyhound Tips - 22 February 2024
Darrell Williams shares three bets with analysis for Thursday night's racing at Hove and Swindon, all live on Sky Sports Racing.
Nine Open races from Hove, accompanied by five more from Swindon, are the focal point of today’s live greyhound action. Regardless of your focus, every race is accessible on greyhounds.attheraces.com or via the red button.
For two of tonight’s selections, I'm heading to the south coast. Clairekeith Remy (5) is expected to secure victory in the 515 Trophy final at Hove (19:56).
Despite facing an unusual draw in five, he maintained a straight line from trap four in the heats, comfortably defeating Laughil Sean (4) last week. With that rival set to turn left, it’s a manageable setup. With a significant lead on the clock, especially over the shorter 500m distance, an early advantage should be sufficient, making it Carl Gardiner’s race to lose.
Sharp Butch (1) can once again employ his early speed to claim the 500 Standard (20:14), with Seamus Cahill’s charge consistently delivering clockwork performances.
Apart from a troubled heat earlier in the month, his regular 0360ish splits quickly put him in the lead. In a race where Clairekeith Liana (4), usually running from traps one or two, faces a challenging task drawn in four. Even if she manages to get loose—clearing Droopys Rampant (3) is not guaranteed—she was easily outpaced down the back by the selection in January.
The final choice is a slightly unconventional one: Newinn Neddy (4) in a 480 handicap at Newcastle (20:44). He caught the eye powering down the far side on debut in another staggered start contest a fortnight ago.
While there are slight concerns about his slow start and the fact he failed to win a trial, he had no issue passing rivals, and this could be the right time to back him.
Darrell's Best Bets
19.56 Hove - Clairekeith Remy (Trap 5)
20.14 Hove - harp Butch (Trap 1)
20.44 Newcastle - Newinn Neddy (Trap 4)
