Carol Weatherall Secures Nottingham Double
Both Clona King and Rebel Venus have earned their spots in next week's Arc Maiden Trophy final, giving Carol Weatherall a successful night at Nottingham.
Clona King’s last appearance at Nottingham saw him up against March On Freddie, but this time, the path was clear for him to live up to his heavy favourite status of 1/6. His performance did not disappoint, recording the fastest time of the night with a 29.87 (+60) in the heats. His kennel companion, Rebel Venus, followed suit with a winning time of 30.27 in his own race.
Wolf Gold claimed victory in the third heat for trainer Jill Llewellin, posting a time of 29.98. He managed to overtake long-time leader Seaside Degs just before the finish line. Jason Gray, the trainer of Seaside Degs, also took second place in the race won by Rebel Venus with Loxleys Forest. To add to the excitement, Llewellin also trained the runner-up to Clona King, resulting in three trainers each having two finalists in next Monday’s showdown.
Richie Taberner secured a win with Aero Becks in the Jenningsbet Sprint Trophy Final, adding to the evening's excitement. The other open race of the night, a 305m contest, saw Time Counts emerge victorious, marking another high point in Jill Llewellin’s remarkable night.
The upcoming final promises to be a thrilling event with a strong field of runners, making it one to watch.
