This week has been filled with remarkable performances across various tracks, making it a challenging yet exciting task to highlight the best among them. While the Derby semi-finals at Towcester would typically dominate the spotlight, several other noteworthy performances deserve recognition.
At Towcester, De Lahdedah’s 28.79 run was commendable, though it was surpassed by Romeo Command’s 28.69. Aero Sacundai also delivered an impressive 15.43, just shy of the record. However, the standout performance belongs to Coonough Crow, who set a new track record of 42.43 for the 712m, marking her 10th win and proving her consistency in her second season.
Teaboy Brownie set the fastest time of the year over Romford’s sprint distance with a 13.46 run, shaving three spots off the previous best. His kennelmate, Cunnigar Yousir, recorded the seventh fastest time of the year for Monmore’s standard distance with a 28.05 run.
No Better Feelin, a 10/1 underdog, clocked an impressive 26.76 in the semi-finals of the ARC Puppy Trophy at Sunderland, just one spot off the year's fastest time, setting him up as a strong contender for the final.
Swift Depot made a surprising turnaround with a 14/1 win at Yarmouth, delivering the week's quickest 462 run after a streak of 12 consecutive losses. Tyrone dominated Nottingham's A2 race by a staggering 10 lengths with a 29.75 finish, highlighting the varying conditions at the track.
Sheffield saw Trickysteddybear shine in the A2 with a 28.70, while Doncaster’s highlight was Skywalker Tino’s 16.75 sprint, his fourth win in five races. Ower Mystery continued to excel at Hove with a 30.14 win over the longer four-bend course.
Swindon featured a thrilling 476m open where John Campbell’s Eze triumphed in 27.99, turning the tables on Ballymac Rocky and Sallowglen Hope. At Kinsley, Sober Ballad’s 27.67 run in a competitive A2 was the highlight, despite Ballymac Alyssa’s impressive 27.44 in a handicap.
At Harlow, Flyers Vialli’s fastest 415 of the year was notable, though Era Lucky’s A1 victory in 26.26 was more significant given the conditions. Oxford’s highlight was Headford Hero’s 14.87 sprint, the quickest of the year, while Delvin Cat’s performance at Newcastle earned him a third consecutive POW title.
Suffolk Downs saw Rapido Ken edge out kennelmate Lemming Spirit for the fastest run of the week. At Perry Barr, Good Spark continued his winning streak, while Devilgate Suzi shone in A3 with a 28.55 run.
Central Park’s Asbo Lenny clocked the week’s quickest 491m run at 29.48, continuing his winning form. Valley’s standout was Unwanted Present with a 28.52 open win, remaining unbeaten in the UK, while Bluetooth’s 28.44 A2 win and weight loss transformation were remarkable.
Crayford witnessed exceptional times with Newinn Lotto’s near-record 22.87 run and Razldazl Rolex’s 44.57 over eight bends, just five spots shy of the record. Pelaw’s highlight was Farneys Willie’s 35.71 win over six bends, nearly matching the track record.
