Bockos Diamond Leads Boylesports Derby
Unsurprisingly, there has been significant movement at the top of the Boylesports Derby market in recent days. Bockos Diamond has emerged as the clear favourite, while his littermate March On Freddie has shortened to 14-1 with the sponsors following the announcement of his participation.
Damien Lonergan mentioned that a sizable bet was placed on Bockos Diamond, causing his odds to drop from 7-1 to 11-2. If he maintains such a short price ahead of the first round, he would be one of the shortest-priced ante-post favourites in recent memory, possibly even in decades.
Meanwhile, Callaway Knegare remains the second favorite at 7-1. Intriguingly, both Bockos Diamond and Callaway Knegare are entered for a 550-yard stake at Shelbourne Park this weekend, meaning they could face off before the Derby even begins.
Both greyhounds are expected to win their respective semi-finals, and if they do, it sets up a thrilling showdown just nine days from now. The result of this potential clash could significantly influence the Derby market.
As for De Lahdedah, although he hasn't raced since his historic win in the English Derby for Liam Dowling, he has impressed in recent sprint trials. Boylesports has set his odds at 10-1.
Current Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby Odds:
- 11-2 Bockos Diamond
- 7 Callaway Knegare
- 10 De Lahdedah
- 14 March On Freddie
- 20 Da Bold Falcon
- 25 Bombay Pat, Clonbrien Treaty, Seven Beach, Unanimous Panther
