Triumphant Victory for Allowdale Cazoo in Peter Bussey Memorial Trophy Final

Nathan Hunt's greyhound, Allowdale Cazoo, delivered a powerful performance, securing a dramatic victory in the Peter Bussey Memorial Trophy Final at Crayford on Saturday. The GBGB Category Two event, offering £5,000 to the winner, served as the main supporting competition to the Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket Final. The young finalist, owned by Nathan Hunt Racing Club and trained by Nathan Hunt, demonstrated resilience and determination in the 540m contest.

As the race unfolded, Hopes Paddington took an early lead, but Ritzy Empress, with impressive early pace, seized the advantage around the second bend, gaining a crucial lead over the favorite Minnie Bullet. Allowdale Cazoo, under the guidance of Nathan Hunt, maintained a close pursuit, navigating a wider course to secure a clearer path as competitors jostled behind.

In a thrilling finish, Allowdale Cazoo closed in on the leader throughout the home straight, ultimately securing victory by a short head at the shadow of the post. The final time was 33.69 seconds (+20), with Ritzy Empress finishing in second place and Minnie Bullet in third.

Trainer Nathan Hunt expressed his delight, highlighting the suitability of Crayford's four-bend track for Allowdale Cazoo. He emphasized the greyhound's potential for improvement due to her age and confirmed the Coral Brighton Belle as her next target. Hunt commended the track at Crayford, praised the race's significance, and reminisced about a past finalist, Doghouse Dazzler.

Allowdale Cazoo, purchased after an impressive win in Tralee, has showcased her talents, reaching the semi-finals of the Oaks and demonstrating her prowess over various distances. Hunt acknowledged the unexpected success of Cazoo, crediting the deal with Aine Roche and expressing his delight for the racing club members, emphasizing their enjoyment of this significant victory.
