The £8,000 winner’s prize for the Doncaster Yorkshire Derby kicks off this Saturday, alongside the £3,000 British Bred St Leger.
Yesterday’s trials delivered some intriguing performances, particularly from Romeo Crossfire and Vixons Filofax. Romeo Crossfire, who secured third place in the Northern Flat for trainer Tom Heilbron, previously finished behind Wicky Ned. After reaching the semi-finals of the Ladbrokes Gold Cup and being knocked out in the second round of the Produce Stakes, his first trial run here looks promising.
Vixons Filofax, a finalist in the Ladbrokes Gold Cup, finished fifth behind Churchfield Syd. Brian Thompson’s runner also achieved second place in the Greyhound Trader Stakes at Towcester on Derby night, further demonstrating his competitive edge.
Both dogs are shaping up to be strong contenders as the competition heats up.
