One of the UK's most historic greyhound racing competitions, the Northern Flat, has a new sponsor. Time Greyhound Nutrition will back the 88th renewal of the event at Newcastle Stadium this July.
First held in 1927, the prestigious Category One competition offers a prize fund of £12,500 to the winner. It will be open to 36 greyhounds, with heats beginning on Thursday, July 11, semi-finals on July 18, and the final on July 25.
This sponsorship signifies a new agreement between Time Greyhound Nutrition and Arena Racing Company, which also operates neighboring Sunderland Stadium, as well as Nottingham, Perry Barr, and Central Park.
Rachel Corden, Greyhound Operations Director at Arena Racing Company, expressed her gratitude: “We’re very grateful to Time Greyhound Nutrition for its support of this year’s Northern Flat, which is a highlight on the sport’s calendar not just locally, but nationally too.”
Time Greyhound Nutrition focuses on enabling greyhounds to reach their true potential through products that are nutritionally balanced and tailored to each dog's requirements, considering age and activity levels.
Willie Rigney of Time Greyhound Nutrition added: “The Northern Flat is a prestigious and longstanding competition in UK greyhound racing, and we are delighted to partner with Arena Racing Company by backing this event in 2024.
“We have a number of clients in the north-east of England and Scotland, and this sponsorship gives Time Greyhound Nutrition an opportunity to support what they are doing on the track. Our meet-and-greet sessions on semi-final and final nights will allow us to engage with our customers, both old and new.
“We have an extensive sponsorship program in Ireland and the UK, and we are once again backing the 3 Steps To Victory at Sheffield’s Owlerton Stadium this Sunday. The Time Greyhound Nutrition Northern Flat is a natural next step for us, and we are thrilled to add this competition to our portfolio.”
The Time Greyhound Nutrition Northern Flat, run over 480m, begins at Newcastle Stadium on Thursday, July 11, with the £12,500 Grand Final taking place a fortnight later on July 25.
