Sunderland Kickstarts Fundraising Efforts for Macmillan Cancer Support

In a heart-warming display of community spirit, Sunderland recently spearheaded its inaugural fundraiser in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, raising an impressive sum exceeding £1,000.

Louis Pern, instrumental in coordinating the event, expressed gratitude to all who contributed: "A huge thanks to everyone who donated and helped spread awareness on Friday. Every single donation counts, and we couldn’t have raised £1,090 without Sunderland’s help and the generosity of racegoers who donated."

With plans to extend their philanthropic endeavours, Pern shared insights into future initiatives: "We carry out fundraisers at racing events across the country, and we plan to announce the grand total of all our campaigns at a final fundraising event on Saturday, June 15, at York Racecourse where we’ll continue our charitable efforts."

Joanne Wilson, General Manager at Sunderland Greyhound Stadium, echoed sentiments of pride in the community's response: "It was wonderful to see a great turnout under the floodlights, with the hospitality packages going down a treat. We’re proud to have played our part for a charity that has helped change the lives of so many individuals."

Embracing their role as a platform for positive change, Sunderland Stadium has committed to hosting more fundraising events, with the next Fund-Racer scheduled for Friday, May 17. This ongoing commitment underscores their dedication to supporting worthy causes within the local community.
