Monmore Green's premier Open competitions are making a comeback to Saturday nights, with a series of warm-up events leading up to both the Ladbrokes Gold Cup and Summer Stayers Classic.
In contrast to the earlier Category One events this year, which took place during Saturday lunchtimes, the upcoming competitions will infuse Saturday nights with excitement in anticipation of the Gold Cup and Summer Stayers finals on August 24th.
The first of four rounds of Category Three competitions is scheduled for next Saturday, May 11th, aimed at attracting top-tier greyhounds and lively crowds as the nights grow lighter.
Two additional Category Three dates are planned for June, with another slated for July, leading up to the prestigious Gold Cup and Summer Stayers events, each offering a £10,000 prize to the winner, starting on August 10th.
Monmore racing manager Tony Williamson expressed enthusiasm for the return of Open racing on Saturday nights, anticipating the participation of elite greyhounds in preparation for the upcoming Category One competitions.
"With several Category Three competitions lined up, we hope to see the best greyhounds in action, setting the stage for our remaining Category One events," said Williamson. "It promises to be an electrifying series of Saturday nights for racegoers to savour at the track over the next few months."
