Romeo Taylor Secures 2024 Rural Kennels Unraced Championship

In a thrilling night at Clonmel Greyhound Stadium, Romeo Taylor, under Graham Holland's training, emerged as the surprise victor in the Rural Kennels Open Unraced 525 final. Despite fierce competition, the explosive early pace of Romeo Taylor, a progeny of Newinn Taylor, led him to victory over the 1/2 favourite, Ballymac Danica, securing a €8,000 prize. Holland's success continued with Untold Dollar winning the consolation final.

In the main event, Romeo Taylor showcased exceptional early speed, overcoming a bump from Toolmaker Bud to secure a lead that Ballymac Danica struggled to challenge. Despite the favourite's attempt to recover, a crucial check at the penultimate turn decided the outcome. In a closely contested final, Romeo Taylor held on gamely, triumphing by half a length in 28.74 .10s. This renewal promised a bright future for several finalists in upcoming events.

Untold Dollar, another offspring of Newinn Taylor, dominated the consolation final, avenging a previous defeat to kennel companion Romeo Falco. Leading from the start, Untold Dollar's front-running masterclass secured a one-length victory over Romeo Falco in a rapid 28.51 .10s.

In the sweepstakes, Bright Malachi claimed the Droopys Kennels A3/A4 Guys & Dolls 525, surprising at 10/1. Foxrock Donie triumphed in the Born Warrior @ Stud A3/A4 525 at 4/1, and Daring Bono won the Sporting Press A1/A2 550 at 15/8. Goldcash Ice concluded the Orchestrate @ Stud AO/A1 Bitch 525 at 10/1.

Annagh Bailey delivered a brilliant performance in the open race, securing victory at 9/4. Scooby The Jet impressed in the Serene Ace @ Stud Open 525, prevailing at 7/1. Warrenstown Boy demonstrated his brilliant early dash, winning the Track Bookmakers Open 300 as the 10/11 favourite.
