Rees Optimistic About Nine Percent’s Prospects in Hove Final

Assistant trainer Charlie Rees is eagerly anticipating a stellar performance from the rapidly improving greyhound Nine Percent in tonight’s £500 final at Hove, scheduled for 8:07 PM. Trained by Richard Rees and owned by the Legacy Racing Syndicate, Nine Percent has shown significant progress in recent weeks, and his team is confident he is ready for a standout run.

"We’ve always held Nine Percent in high regard, and though he’s been running well, he’s really taken off lately," Charlie Rees shared with the Greyhound Star. "For tonight’s race, he seems to have a favourable setup. Sharp Butch, likely to head inside from trap 3, and Clonmoyle Rockie, potentially an early hindrance to Newinn Benni, might work to our advantage. With a bit of luck, I’m hopeful for a big run from our lad."

Tonight’s event boasts a strong supporting card, featuring heats for both a 695m maiden competition and a 515m contest, each with three first-round heats to captivate punters.

One to watch in the 695m maiden competition is Liz McNair’s Queen Leona, owned by the K.S.S Syndicate. Making her debut over six bends in heat 2 at 7:33 PM, Queen Leona carries the promise of replicating the impressive performance of her littermate, Queen Georgia, who recently excelled over Towcester’s 712m trip. If Queen Leona can match her sibling’s prowess, she is undoubtedly the one to beat.

In the 515m competition, June Harvey’s Ower Mystery, owned by Mr. A G Harvey, stands out in heat 1 at 8:24 PM. This May 2021 son of Droopys Sydney had been off the track since mid-February but has shown a return to form with a recent sprint and two four-bend runs since his comeback in late May. Now approaching peak fitness, Ower Mystery is well-positioned to capitalize on his trap 1 draw and secure a win.

The excitement surrounding Nine Percent and the evening’s supporting card promises an exhilarating night of greyhound racing at Hove. Fans and punters alike are in for a treat as these promising greyhounds showcase their skills and compete for victory.
