Queen Joni, born in December 2021 from Droopys Sydney and Queen Jessie, and trained by Liz McNair, concluded an unbeaten streak by clinching victory in the £10,000 category one British Bred Breeders Forum Derby at Sheffield last night. This marks Joni's second category one triumph, with her previous success in the Produce Stakes at Swindon in September.
Unfortunately, kennelmate King Capaldi was withdrawn from the final due to being 'off colour.' Despite this setback, the KSS team continues its impressive recent form, following Queen Dusty's Bet365 Puppy Oaks win at Towcester on Sunday.
The eventful week for the kennel is set to continue, with Havana Lover and Havana Top Note both scheduled to compete in the Bet365 Challenge Cup Final at Oxford on Friday. Additionally, litter brothers King Combs and King Memphis are gearing up for Saturday's Coral Olympic Final at Hove.
Rab McNair commented on the kennel's recent challenges, saying, “We’ve had some sickness in the kennel. Until yesterday, it was only Queen Pink who had gone down with it, and I had to withdraw her from Oxford. It isn’t anything serious, and I expect Capaldi to get over it in a couple of days, but you would always be concerned when you have dogs in big finals.”
