Mark Wallis's speedster, Quarteira, set tongues wagging at Towcester as he contested the Bet365 Northamptonshire Sprint's heat two, covering the 270m track in a blistering time. A strong favorite for the Sprinter of the Year nomination at the upcoming GBGB Awards, Quarteira bounced back from a narrow loss in the previous week, securing a commanding victory with odds of 3-10. The March 2021 greyhound, sired by Ballymac Best and Kilara Jessie, dominated the race, finishing six and a half lengths ahead of Singaporeslinger in a record time of 15.44sec (normal).

Dashing Dude, trained by Frank Bryce, also impressed in heat three, clocking 15.65sec (normal) and securing a three and a half length win over Hopes Hurricane. The event featured noteworthy performances, including Hopes Knight's triumph in heat one and Broadway Murty's success in the final heat. Towcester racing manager Andy Lisemore praised the exceptional first round and anticipated thrilling semi-finals on Sunday.
