Monmore Restores Saturday Night Prestige with New Racing Schedule

In response to feedback from enthusiasts and in a bid to enhance the excitement of their elite competitions, Monmore has decided to reinstate Saturday evenings for their Category One events. The decision comes after concerns were raised regarding the scheduling of the Winter Derby and PGR Puppy Derby as lunchtime fixtures.

Joe Edwards, a spokesperson for the track, emphasized the importance of aligning with the preferences of greyhound racing fans. He stated, "The elite open competitions are returning to Saturday nights with several warm-up events coming before both the Ladbrokes Gold Cup and Summer Stayers Classic."

To kick off the revamped schedule, Monmore will introduce a series of new Category Three events starting this weekend. These races aim to attract top-tier greyhounds and foster lively crowds, especially with the longer daylight hours ahead.

Racing manager Tony Williamson expressed his anticipation for the upcoming races, highlighting the track's commitment to delivering thrilling Saturday night entertainment. "Fingers crossed, we'll attract the best greyhounds in preparation for our two remaining Category One competitions," Williamson remarked. "It should all make for some exciting Saturday nights for racegoers to enjoy at the track over the next few months."

With the return of Saturday night racing and the introduction of new events, Monmore is poised to offer an exhilarating racing experience for both participants and spectators alike.
