Next week’s Click Competitions 78th East Anglian Greyhound Derby Final will feature a strong showing from Yarmouth-trained dogs, as they make up half the field after an impressive semi-final performance. Richard Fitch’s Murrow Inkosi clocked the fastest time during Wednesday’s semi-finals, securing his spot in the final.
Murrow Inkosi, a June 2022 pup sired by Pestana and Lemon Stacey, lined up in the third semi-final. As the half-brother of 2023 Arc Cesarewitch winner Cochise and last year’s Derby finalist Flickofacoin, Murrow Inkosi showed his class. He battled closely with Carol Weatherall’s Getup Me Son, exchanging the lead several times before ultimately pulling ahead near the finish to secure a 27.55-second victory.
In the second semi-final, Druids Say Go solidified her status as the favourite for next Wednesday’s £15,000 final with a dominant performance. Trained by Patrick Janssens, she sprinted to the bend, taking the lead early and never looking back. The September 2021 daughter of Droopys Sydney and Druids Diana, who had previously been the beaten favourite in Romford’s Coral Golden Sprint Final, cruised to a comfortable win by two and a quarter lengths over Swindon’s Nowhere To Go, finishing in 27.72 seconds.
The first semi-final saw a Yarmouth one-two finish as John Mullins’ Swift Depot stormed down the outside to overtake Trumpers Bobcat, trained by Kevin Cobbold. Swift Depot secured victory in 27.68 seconds, while Newcastle’s Bramble Linton, who had led most of the race, faded after the final bend.
