Greyhounds Meet the Brewers: Promoting Greyhound Adoption at Burton Albion FC

Tony Brealey, owner of 'Coppice' and cousin of Burton Albion Chairman Ben Robinson, expressed interest in connecting greyhound racing with his local football club, Burton Albion. This vision became a reality during a League One match against Oxford United, which has its own ties to greyhound racing.

Volunteers from Midlands-based Home Run Hounds, dedicated to finding retired racing greyhounds loving homes, were welcomed by the Brewers. This marked the beginning of a partnership between the football club and Nottingham Greyhound Stadium, set to host a Burton Albion FC themed race night later in the year.

Former racers Cav and Honour, along with Clive Parbery, Tracey Parbery, and Jo Withers from Home Run Hounds, paraded around the stadium's touchline before kick-off, drawing attention to their personalities and the need for long-term homes.

Tracey Parbery, Director of Home Run Hounds, highlighted the importance of showcasing greyhounds as potential pets and expressed gratitude to Chairman Ben Robinson and players Steve Seddon and Mason Bennett for their support.

Lacie Moran, representing Nottingham Stadium, praised Cav and Honour for their ambassadorship and engagement with supporters, emphasizing the gentle nature of retired greyhounds. The event was well-received, and both Home Run Hounds and Nottingham Stadium look forward to future collaborations with Burton Albion FC.
