Following its formation in response to an open letter advocating for improvements in the greyhound sport, the Greyhound Industry Stakeholder Working Group is making significant strides. Set to convene its inaugural meeting with the GBGB on May 13, the group aims to articulate its position and plan a series of subsequent meetings to address the concerns outlined in the letter in depth. Selected members will participate based on their availability, expertise, and skill set.
Since the last update, the working group has expanded its membership by welcoming three new members: Brian Hough, an esteemed owner with four decades of experience; Claire Conley, a seasoned owner, breeder, and rearer; and Josh Sealey, a specialist in track preparation and maintenance.
The working group, comprising individuals from various roles within the industry, including owners, trainers, and specialists, seeks to ensure broad representation and expertise. Additionally, efforts are underway to establish a network of owners' representatives from tracks across the country. These representatives will serve as vital links, conveying the concerns of owners nationwide to ensure comprehensive representation in discussions with the GBGB.
