Greenwell Ovett, an impressive debut winner in the first round of the Northern Puppy Derby for trainer John Flaherty, has been withdrawn from the event due to being 'off colour.'
The withdrawal was officially recorded at 09:15 am on Tuesday, 6th February. Greenwell Ovett was generally considered a joint 7/2 – 5/1 favourite for the competition alongside Droopys Eunice. As a result of the withdrawal, trap 2 in the second semi-final of the competition will remain vacant.
Additionally, Velvet Hurricane has been withdrawn from the third semi-final (race 6, 20:09) of the Northern Puppy Derby due to lameness reported at 10:41 am on the same day.
