Langford Aims for Romford Maiden Final Victory
Ian Langford, a respected figure in greyhound racing, has enjoyed success since obtaining his training license. However, he faced health challenges shortly before Christmas last year. Despite the ongoing battle, Langford expressed gratitude for the tremendous support received from his staff and Monmore stadium, particularly praising racing manager Tony Williamson.
Discussing his runners in the 9:21 pm Romford Friday Night 500 Maiden Final, Langford said, “Drumdoit Finn and Cor Blimey are two very nice young pups. Although Finn may be priced short after a decent heat win, there isn't much between the pair. They trialled together, and despite Finn's comfortable win, most of the 4 1/4 lengths that Blimey was beaten by can be attributed to crowding on the track."
He suggested, "There's a big run in Blimey once he gets his trapping together. Anyone thinking about backing Finn would, in my opinion, be well advised to save on his kennel mate at likely decent odds. We have chances, but we're certainly not formalities for the race, especially with Paul Burr’s Lightfoot Honey appearing nicely drawn."
Both pups are owned by The Gafa Syndicate, and Langford expressed gratitude for their support. He noted their growth from starting with one dog to now owning six or seven in the kennel.
The night includes eight supporting opens, featuring three heats of the Romford Friday Night 500 Standard and the Bacon Roll Bitch Of The Month For December race over 400m at 6:56 pm. The race includes the May 2022 daughter of Droopys Sydney and Geelo Gold Dust, trained by Paul Burr and owned by Mr & Mrs Bacon, aiming for her first victory in open class after winning the award in December with an A1 hattrick.
