Adding another illustrious victory to her name, Queen Joni of the KSS Syndicate secured her fourth Category One title by triumphing in the 2024 Coral Brighton Belle at Hove last Saturday. Remarkably, she accomplished this feat before reaching the age of two and a half.
In her 24th appearance at the traps, Queen Joni notched her 18th win with an impressive performance. Assistant Trainer Rab McNair lauded her consistency, noting her ability to deliver when it matters most. Observing the race, McNair acknowledged the strategic advantage created by Dusty, allowing Queen Joni ample space on the inside.
Despite momentarily considering the competition, including Derby favorite King Memphis, McNair expressed confidence in Queen Joni's dominance from her advantageous position. Meanwhile, King Memphis showcased his growing reputation with a convincing victory in a supporting open race, setting the stage for the upcoming PGR Judgement Night.
Reflecting on the track conditions, McNair raised concerns about the current going allowance at Hove, suggesting a discrepancy compared to actual conditions. While praising the overall experience at Hove, McNair emphasized the need for improvements in track conditions to align with expectations.
Additionally, Carol Weatherall's Untold Dollar impressed in the final of the Hove Puppy Cup, showcasing resilience and quality despite facing initial setbacks. This display further highlighted the caliber of greyhounds competing at Hove and underscored the unpredictable nature of racing.
