Five Star Richie Produces Outstanding Litter

After a stellar racing career of 61 races, resulting in 32 victories, including four Category One wins and a Select Stakes, Brookside Richie has embarked on a promising stud career, siring a remarkable litter of five puppies.

Brookside Richie, a highly regarded son of Droopys Sydney and Droopys Greatest, was mated with Irenes Hope, a full sister to another star trained by Fenwick, Ice On Fire. Irenes Hope herself showcased notable speed, clocking 28.77 at Newcastle. The resulting litter, consisting of four bitches and one dog, is reported to be in excellent health by trainer and breeder Jimmy Fenwick.

Fenwick shared his excitement: “They’re really nice pups. They’re a good size. Richie has been at stud since January and has mated three bitches. The first was False Alarm, but sadly, her two pups didn’t survive the caesarean. Irene was the second to be mated, and Afton Pixie for Jimmy Gaskin is also due to give birth. Jimmy mentioned she’s very heavy. We also plan to mate our own Dilly Dilly soon. There’s been significant interest from breeders across the UK, and we’re just waiting for their bitches to come into season. We’ve also discussed taking straws for breeders in Ireland and Europe, which we can accommodate.”

Breeding and standing stud dogs in Britain is challenging, as noted by Phil Milner, who recently sent Droopys Addition to the Droopys stud to maximize his opportunities. However, Richie will remain in Britain, and interested breeders can contact Jimmy Fenwick at 07854 117366. The stud fee is set at £500.

Brookside Richie’s promising start as a stud dog, coupled with the interest from breeders, suggests a bright future for his progeny in the racing world.
