Cooladerry Dust Dominates with Impressive Victory

"It takes a brave punter to take 7/4 about a dog who was beaten six lengths when he met his main rival last time out and has won just once in 14 attempts," we said yesterday. We should have said, "Get on Cooladerry Dust; he is great value at 2/1." Doh!

Nathan Hunt’s runner could not have been more impressive, overcoming an early challenge from Ballintee Nowshow and pulling away to win by ten lengths in the fastest time of the year, 34.77 seconds (The TR is Hollow Man’s 34.54 seconds).

In what would be a mixed night for the kennel, New Destiny showed another side to her ability by coming off the pace to win the opening heat. Having missed her break, she was 30 spots down on her 225m sectional but displayed decent trackcraft to reel in Untold Paanga.

The third qualifier proved disastrous for Team Wallis, with Ballymac Diana failing to qualify by a short head and the kennel’s four runners finishing 3rd to 6th.

The third winning favorite of the night was Paul Young’s Miami Bullet, with a flawless front-running display.

After drawing a third consecutive red jacket, New Destiny was installed as the favourite for next week’s decider.
