Druids Say Go Eyes Shelbourne Park

Druids Say Go, the remarkable winner of the Premier Greyhound Racing Classic, may soon challenge Ireland's finest at Shelbourne Park. Trainer Patrick Janssens is leaning towards bringing her to the Winter Festival, preferring it over the Irish Derby final night, and is setting his sights on Dublin instead of the Premier Greyhound Racing Eclipse at Nottingham.

Reflecting on her recent performances, Janssens shared that while they had raised her level of competition at both Yarmouth and Perry Barr, he’s uncertain if Nottingham would be the right fit, though he acknowledged her talent might still surprise them. He added that training such a talented greyhound is a joy, and perhaps it’s time to let her take on Ireland’s challenge.

The Value Racing Club, who owns Druids Say Go, couldn’t be prouder. With their focus primarily on horses, the club is now finding immense pride and popularity with “Flamingo” (Druids Say Go’s affectionate nickname), who’s captivating fans in the greyhound racing scene. Janssens recounted her recent win at Perry Barr, noting that the crowd knew she was set for a great race as soon as the traps opened. Her time was stellar, nearly matching the record set by Coolavanny Shado at 27.77 seconds—a fantastic feat for a late-October race.

Janssens expressed his gratitude for his dedicated team, including Cheryl, Ria, and Ron Mills, noting their invaluable support. He also extended his thanks to the Oaks sponsors and the Perry Barr team, appreciating their professionalism and hospitality.

Janssens hinted that other strong contenders, like Barntick Bear and recent Perry Barr winners Romeo Steel and Crossfield Enzo, may represent him in the upcoming Premier Greyhound Racing Eclipse. The event’s final, scheduled for Monday, November 25, will be the highlight of the third "Gone To The Dogs – Live!" broadcast, following the Yarmouth and Romford shows.
