09:11 ROMFORD: FIRE AND ICE (Trap 1)
At the start of the Romford Puppy Cup competition, I had two ante-post picks, and only Fire and Ice (previously recommended at 9/4) remains in contention. Despite that, my confidence in Matt Dartnall’s talented dog remains strong as he heads into tonight’s final. With the advantageous red trap draw, his odds have shortened (9.11), making him my standout choice for the race. Fire and Ice had a challenging semi-final last Friday, narrowly losing to Untold Rufiyaa. Those who watched the race would have seen Fire and Ice encounter early interference, yet his acceleration was impressive. Positioned inside Untold Rufiyaa for tonight’s final, I believe Fire and Ice can get off to a flying start and maintain his lead to claim the title.
08:54 ROMFORD: VELVET CHARLIE (Trap 1)
Earlier in the night, at 8.54, Velvet Charlie stands a strong chance with another excellent draw. Last Friday, Katie O’Flaherty’s dog put on a great display when winning his maiden open race here, and if he can get some early space on the inside, he will be hard to beat. Droopy’s Sydney’s offspring impressed with his speed down the far side last week, and if he can replicate that, he should perform well again.
09:28 ROMFORD: AVARUA ZLATAN (Trap 1)
Later in the evening, at 9.28, Avarua Zlatan has the opportunity to make up for a couple of recent disappointments by securing a win. Richard Rees’ runner from Hove was unfortunate two weeks ago, struggling with a slow start from the inside box. However, tonight, he is drawn in the middle, which could improve his chances of a quicker break. While this field leaves little room for mistakes, I believe he’s the classiest dog in the lineup and can prove his worth if he steers clear of trouble.
