Our recent run of form has been a bit lean, but Hove’s promising card tonight looks ripe for some winners! Here are four selections for this evening:
Feature Summertime Trophy Final (20:07)
OWERR MYSTERY (Trap 1) has shown excellent form since returning from a spell of lameness. June Harvey’s charge remains unbeaten in three previous runs over this course and distance. Back in his favored red box, where he has a perfect record in three Hove starts – including two over this trip – he is poised to get the first run. His early speed was evident in last week’s qualifying round victory, and his tendency to edge slightly off the fence into the bend could help block any rivals turning close up.
Fellow heat winner Wasted Monday (Trap 4) is the obvious danger, boasting a few lengths advantage on the clock. However, with Noirs News (Trap 3) likely to move right, Wasted Monday might face a tricky task getting clear.
500m Maiden (20:41)
FIRE AND ICE (Trap 1) debuts in a 500m Maiden rather than a sprint, which seems significant. Matt Dartnall’s October pup has delivered exceptional sprint trials. The well-bred youngster, whose littermates have already made an impact in Ireland, should have the early speed to control the race, putting market rival Soul Reason (Trap 6) under pressure.
Standard Trophy Heat (19:16)
NEWINN BENNI (Trap 6) will be a short favorite but is worth including after another blistering performance last week. Derek Knight’s speedy type continues to improve and benefits from a vacant box on his inside and an untested rival at Hove a place further in. It would be a surprise if he doesn't establish an early winning advantage.
Standard Trophy Heat (19:33)
NINE PERCENT (Trap 4) encountered the formidable Newinn Benni last week but can bounce back in this heat of the same competition. Richard Rees’ charge previously broke his Open race maiden tag in spectacular style at Towcester. Despite a troubled run in his defeat last time, he still clocked his best time for the trip. Expect a strong return to form tonight.
Best Bets:
- 19:16 Hove - NEWINN BENNI (Trap 6)
- 19:33 Hove - NINE PERCENT (Trap 4)
- 20:07 Hove - OWER MYSTERY (Trap 1)
- 20:41 Hove - FIRE AND ICE (Trap 1)
Let's hope for a profitable evening with these promising picks at Hove!
