British Performance of the Week - Week 12, 2024

The standout performer of the week undoubtedly goes to Bubbly Inferno, who delivered a commanding performance in the Track Bookmakers TV Trophy Final at Oxford, defeating the favourite Ballymac Taylor and setting a new track record of 52.37. This wasn’t the only record broken on the night, as Havana Top Note slashed 10 spots off his own 650m record with a remarkable 39.19 run.

As anticipated, the Kings and Queens syndicate continued their dominance in the ARC Kent Plate, securing eight out of nine qualifiers to date. Ante-post favourite King Memphis extended his winning streak to nine with an impressive 29.05 (-10) run.

At Monmore, Untold Dollar faced tough competition after clocking 28.30 and 28.27 trials but displayed resilience to qualify for the PGR Puppy Derby first round. He emerged as the quickest of Saturday’s semi-final winners with a time of 28.27.

Doncaster witnessed a night of exceptional racing, with new fastest times of the year recorded by Across The Field (16.75-275m), Wicky Hiker (27.44-450m), and Agile Ange (41.34-661m). However, the spotlight falls on a 17-month-old locally bred pup, Redbrick Tulip, who triumphed in her second race, clocking 27.58 over 450m.

Stuart Ray’s Blackhouse Harry impressed upon his return to racing, but equal acknowledgment is due to July British bred pup Greenwell Coe, who clocked 28.58 on the same card.

Dashing Dude secured his ninth consecutive win over the Swindon sprint, but special mention goes to Bryce runner Baggios Intent for recording the quickest 471m run of the year, 28.00.

Acomb Felix claimed victory in the British Breeders Final at Nottingham, but the performance of the night belonged to Coppice Rocket with a sprint time of 17.54. Additionally, Farneys Willie recorded the first sub-39.00 run for the 660m of 2024 at Sheffield.

Aikins Gift breached the 16.00 barrier at Kinsley for the first time in 2024 with a 15.95 run, while Gothic Gwen clocked 26.27 at Harlow, matching the fastest time of the year.

Never Say No impressed with a 29.44 win over the 500m trip at Swindon, while Traceys Sydney excelled in hurdling, equaling the fastest time of the year with 23.44 at Crayford.

At Suffolk Downs, puppy Yahoo Megan continued her winning streak with a 23.56 run, and at Yarmouth, Bonjurno Boy won in 27.89.

Romeo Firebrand produced the best run at Romford’s 400m course with a time of 23.91, and Crafty Shivoo’s 28.81 open race win at Towcester stands out considering her recent season.

Port West Storm recorded the fastest time over the 450m course at Sunderland with 27.24, while Whisky Copper achieved a notable win at Valley with a time of 28.17.

Finally, Pelaw Grange saw Tromora Supreme setting a new track record for the 435m distance with an impressive time of 25.46, earning the title of Performance of the Week.
