Battersea Old Windsor Calls on Public to Embrace Greyhound Adoption

In honour of National Adopt-a-Greyhound Month, Battersea Old Windsor is advocating for greyhound adoption, emphasising the unique qualities that make them excellent companions and dispelling common misconceptions about the breed.

Despite their remarkable traits, the centre reports that greyhounds often linger in their care longer than the average rescue dog. Currently housing six Greyhounds, all surpassing the typical rehoming period, Battersea Old Windsor aims to find loving homes for these overlooked canines.

Kaye Mughal, centre manager, shares insights into greyhound temperament and care needs: "Greyhounds offer boundless love and loyalty, contrary to misconceptions about their exercise requirements. While they enjoy short bursts of activity, many are content with leisurely strolls and cozy couch time."

Highlighting their affectionate nature and minimal grooming needs, Mughal dispels myths surrounding greyhound care. "These gentle giants thrive on affection, often leaning in for cuddles. With their sleek coats, grooming is a breeze, allowing for more quality time together."

Among the greyhounds awaiting adoption are Jolene and Blake, both exceeding 160 days in shelter care. Jolene seeks a tranquil home to nurture her confidence, while Blake charms potential adopters with his endearing personality.

Mughal reaffirms Battersea's commitment to rescuing animals like Jolene and Blake, urging the community to support their quest for forever homes. "Every greyhound deserves a chance at a fulfilling life, and we're dedicated to making that a reality."
