Arena Racing Company's (ARC) Nottingham and Perry Barr Stadiums have entered a partnership with Home Run Hounds, a midlands homing centre, to support the rehoming of retired greyhounds. Home Run Hounds operates three homing centres with a volunteer network, providing care for up to 50 greyhounds awaiting adoption.
As part of ARC's commitment to ensuring retired greyhounds have happy and healthy retirements, Nottingham and Perry Barr Stadiums will support 10 kennel spaces for recently retired greyhounds. This collaboration aligns with the Greyhound Retirement Scheme, which helps cover retirement costs via a £400 bond, jointly paid by the owner and the Greyhound Board of Great Britain.
Home Run Hounds, an approved Homing Centre by the GBGB, not only focuses on finding suitable homes for retired greyhounds but also engages in community services. These include care home visits, community talks, and activities to enhance the experiences of those living with disabilities through interactions with retired greyhounds.
The partnership reflects ARC's dedication to greyhound welfare, emphasizing the importance of linking retired greyhounds with caring owners for their post-racing lives.
