Towcester Sale Brings Promising Greyhounds

The recent Greyhound Trader Towcester ‘Puppy Derby’ Sales have once again introduced some thrilling new talent to the UK, with 28 greyhounds fetching a total of just over £64,000.

The highest-priced greyhound of the day was Racenight Mikey, who was sold for £10,000. This promising pup, born in April 2023 and sired by Ballymac Cashout, had only shown a 28.87 trial time at Limerick prior to the sale. However, he impressed with a second-fastest trial time of 29.58 over the 500m distance at Towcester. He has now joined Maxine Locke’s kennel, with his new syndicate already eyeing the £20,000 PGR Monmore Puppy Derby as a long-term goal.

Dusty Chief, who posted the fastest time of the day at 29.51, outpaced his kennelmate Da Cornetto, who was sold for £4,000. Dusty Chief, born in March 2022 and already a winner at Shelbourne Park, had a reserve price of £5,000 but remained unsold.

Meanwhile, Memoir, from the prestigious Townview kennels of the Matthews family, found a buyer. The December 2022 daughter of Unlock Unlock was purchased by Allan Power from the North for £8,000, following her impressive trial win with a time of 29.61.

Other significant sales included Unlock Queen (£5,300), Bloody Flawless (£5,000), and Magical Jacob (£4,000).

The next UK greyhound sale will take place at Hove, hosted by Premier Greyhound Sales, on Monday, October 14.
