Tony Collett Bows Out with a Spectacular Five-Timer

Veteran trainer Tony Collett closed his career on a high note with a remarkable five-win streak, highlighted by an unforgettable performance from his final runner.

Among the victories were Rugged Road and Kevinsfort Duke, both excelling in sprint events. The evening’s final race, a graded sprint, saw the heavily favoured Extra Place (1/2) break her winless streak dating back to September, delivering a fitting end to Collett’s illustrious journey.

Meanwhile, trainer David Mullins enjoyed success with a double triumph at Sittingbourne. March On Malfoy and Jades Rocket secured back-to-back wins early in the event. The standout of the evening, however, was Bluejig Baron, trained by Dave Lee, who delivered a dazzling 491m victory in just 28.83 seconds, marking his ninth win in 12 starts.

Underdogs also had their moments, with two notable longshots making waves. Interest Free surprised at 12/1 under Dan Brabon’s guidance, while Bohermore Swift, trained by Spencer Mavrias, defied the odds at 18/1. Other winners included Barry O’Sullivan’s Harlequin Druids and Dave Puddy’s Coolemont Climat, rounding off an eventful night.

Tony Collett’s career may have reached its conclusion, but his legacy as a master trainer was cemented with this remarkable send-off.
