Sunday’s highly anticipated clash between Barntick Bear and Droopys Extragud at Towcester certainly lived up to expectations. On paper, it promised to be the highlight of the day, and the action on the track didn’t disappoint.
Although the final result shows Droopys Extragud winning by just half a length, the race was far more exciting than the numbers suggest. Clocking an impressive 28.99 (+10), Heather Dimmock’s young star continued to shine, having already reached multiple finals in 2024, further proving his exceptional talent.
Barntick Bear had a slower start and faced some trouble early on, but once he found his stride, he made a remarkable recovery. The ground he covered after the second bend was extraordinary, losing no honour in defeat despite the challenging position he was in.
Meanwhile, Patrick Janssens celebrated success with Not So Slow, who dominated the sprint with a rapid 15.52, winning by more than seven lengths. It was also a fantastic day for Mark Wallis, who scored a treble, starting with Proper Heiress on her UK debut, followed by victories with Gun Slinger and Newinn Cloud.
