Shelbourne Museum Opens

The highly anticipated Shelbourne Park Museum officially opened its doors last week, marking an exciting milestone for the community. On Thursday, 26th September, Shelbourne Park hosted a grand event to celebrate the occasion, coinciding with the return of Thursday night racing. The event was led by RCÉ Chairman Pat Flanagan, who had the honor of unveiling the museum and declaring it open to the public. The return of Thursday racing reestablishes Shelbourne’s traditional schedule of three race nights a week, held every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The reopening also introduced the public to a newly renovated stadium, which boasts upgraded facilities aimed at enhancing the overall visitor experience. The additions include the South Lotts Terrace Cafe, the Shelbourne Park Sports Bar, a Food Hall with fast food and carvery options, and The 1927 Lounge—each offering distinct services to suit various tastes. The new museum is a tribute to the legacy and tradition of greyhound racing, providing an educational and interactive journey for its guests.

Chairman Pat Flanagan shared his excitement, noting that the revamped stadium, the museum’s launch, and the return of Thursday night racing symbolise a fresh chapter for both the community and the sport. He emphasised his enthusiasm about welcoming visitors to enjoy the upgraded facilities while celebrating their shared love for greyhound racing.
