Savana Jackpot Shatters Track Record at Towcester

Towcester hosted the semi-finals of the Genco Juvenile Classic yesterday, but the spotlight was firmly on Savana Jackpot. Diane Henry's star runner set a new track record, clocking an impressive 42.02 over 712 meters. Having previously won in 28.78 over four bends in April, Savana Jackpot had been on the verge of a breakout performance over six bends. As the 1/4 favourite, he dominated the race with an outstanding 15.89 split, leaving the competition far behind.

Droopys Extragud made waves in the Juvenile Classic, demonstrating exceptional bend running to clock 28.95 for Heather Dimmock. This performance saw him finishing a length and a half ahead of Irish contender Syd Zafiro, who also secured a spot in the final.

Maxine Locke enjoyed a successful Derby campaign, with Droopys Pivotel narrowly missing a spot in the final by just a length. However, he secured a place in a Category Two Final next week with a 29.26 victory over Slick Sentinel.

In another semi-final, John Locke's Flying Desire emerged victorious, becoming the only female contender in the final. She overtook Tiffield Tarquin late in the race, with the runner-up being the youngest finalist, born in December 2022.

Elsewhere on the card, Avongate Venus continued her impressive form, clocking 28.72 for her fifth win in six starts. Phil Milner's charge came within 14 spots of the track record, despite a slower sectional by 13 spots compared to her previous win two weeks earlier.
