Romeo Littermates Shine in Double Triumph as Druids Dazzles in Golden Sprint
In the heats of the Coral Golden Sprint at Romford on Friday, Druids Say Go, trained by Patrick Janssens, set the pace with the fastest time of the night. On the same evening, David Mullins showcased the prowess of his Puppy Cup winners from the previous year, with Romeo Crusade and Romeo Cypher, both from the same litter, delivering impressive performances.
Clocking a noteworthy time of 23.73 seconds in heat five, Druids Say Go led from the outset, setting the standard for the night. Despite an early challenge from Hellofavalentine, Druids Say Go surged ahead, securing a six-length victory over the Central Park raider.
Romeo Crusade, the reigning Puppy Cup champion, demonstrated his quest for another Category One title by winning heat three. Leading from the turn and finishing over two lengths ahead of Front Alice in 23.98 seconds, he displayed his racing prowess.
Romeo Cypher, the littermate and British Bred Puppy Cup champion at Oxford, capped off the heats with an all-the-way victory in 23.95 seconds, just slightly slower than his counterpart. Mullins completed a kennel hat-trick as Romeo Hotshot, the 2022 Romford Puppy Cup winner, triumphed in a 575m contest.
Nottingham's Arc National Sprint winner, Bombout Bullet, transitioned smoothly from two bends to four, securing a gutsy victory in heat one. In a closely contested finish, Mark Wallis's Rapido Lady edged out Bombay Zero in heat two, crossing the line in 24.64 seconds. Heat four witnessed a tumultuous race, ultimately won by Roadsea Gun, trained by Patrick Browne, with a 20-1 success in 24.50 seconds.
