Queensland Set to Host 10-Dog Races

According to the Greyhound Recorder, Queensland will soon witness the return of 10-dog races at its brand-new racing facility, “The Q.”

This modern venue, specifically designed for greyhound racing, will feature a 350-meter straight track, which is notably wider than any other in Australia, spanning 12 meters—four to five meters broader than typical tracks. This additional width is set to accommodate the larger field of dogs and enhance the racing experience.

Slated to open in 2025, “The Q” will boast three tracks: a straight track, a one-turn track, and a two-turn track. Its location will be near the current Ipswich track, not far from Brisbane, placing it in a prime spot for both local and travelling spectators.

Though this isn’t Australia’s first venture into 10-dog races—Richmond held similar events in the 1960s—there is now speculation that Richmond may reintroduce them as well. The return of such races promises to bring fresh excitement to the sport and attract even more enthusiasts to Queensland’s racing scene.
