Nottingham's upcoming finals night promises not only thrilling racing action but also a special appearance by 2022 Derby finalist Mickys Barrett.
Mickys Barrett's journey has captured the hearts of many. Named in memory of a Nottingham man who lost his battle with cancer, this remarkable greyhound was owned by a 67-member syndicate. Trained by local trainer Jason Gray, Mickys Barrett became the Cinderella story of the 2022 Derby, reaching the final against the odds. That same year, he also claimed victory in the All-England Cup.
Now enjoying his well-deserved retirement, Mickys Barrett lives with a couple of his owners, who are generously bringing him back to the track for a meet and greet. This visit marks a poignant return to the very place where his career began. With free entry as part of the National Greyhound Week celebrations, the event is expected to draw a large crowd on the bank holiday Monday, making it a fitting tribute to a beloved canine athlete.
