Trainer David Mullins is preparing to test his young prospect, March On Freddie, at Shelbourne Park this Saturday as part of their ambitious pursuit of the BoyleSports Irish Derby.
Mullins mentioned that the plan is to start with a sprint trial this weekend, followed by a 550-yard trial the next week. The talented JenningsBet Puppy Classic winner, owned by George Watson, is in great form, according to the Romford trainer, despite a cancelled trip to Hove the previous week.
Due to an unfortunate fatal accident on the motorway, Mullins’ wife and assistant, Julie, couldn’t get Freddie to Hove. However, Central Park stepped in on Saturday, offering a solo trial session, and Freddie performed admirably. Mullins reported that Freddie clocked an impressive 28.48 seconds from the new 491-metre traps, confirming the dog’s excellent condition.
The trainer expressed his excitement about the upcoming Derby, acknowledging the challenge of the long journeys ahead but feeling confident in their young contender’s abilities.
