Lee Strand Announces €10,000 Event at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium

Lee Strand, in partnership with Rásaíocht Con Éireann, has unveiled the eagerly anticipated Lee Strand A3 550 event at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, set to kick off on April 26th and culminate with the final on May 25th.

The Lee Strand 550, a highly anticipated A3 confined 550 yards race, will see 72 runners compete for a substantial €10,000 prize. This prestigious event has garnered immense popularity among owners and trainers nationwide, adding yet another highlight to the bustling greyhound racing calendar, which includes renowned competitions like the Eric Browne Memorial Kingdom Derby and the Juvenile Classic.

As a cooperative society owned by farmer shareholders, Lee Strand has been a cornerstone of the Kerry, West Limerick & North Cork region, employing over 100 individuals across various business units. With a rich history spanning over a century since its establishment in 1920, Lee Strand has been dedicated to processing and distributing liquid milk, solidifying its position as a trusted brand in the heart of Tralee, County Kerry.

Gearoid Linnane, CEO of Lee Strand, expressed delight in continuing to support one of Ireland's most prestigious races, emphasizing the enduring partnership spanning over four decades. Linnane highlighted the anticipation for another year of thrilling racing in the Kingdom.

Leon Blanche, Chief Commercial Officer of Greyhound Racing Ireland, echoed the excitement, welcoming Lee Strand back as the sponsor for another year of exceptional racing. Blanche emphasized the event's allure, attracting top-class kennels, and noted the substantial €10,000 prize, the largest ever for the competition. He extended gratitude to Gearoid and Lee Strand for their ongoing support, anticipating the exhilarating 2024 Lee Strand A3 550.
