Greyhound Isle Rose clinched victory at the prestigious Laurels Classic Greyhound racing event hosted at Sandown Park. Trainer Troy MacDonald received what competition organisers hailed as his "finest Christmas gift" as Isle Rose secured a hard-fought win, boasting an impressive record of 11 wins from 14 starts. According to analysts, successful races could earn a dog up to £100,000.
McDonald now envisions accompanying the triumphant greyhound to New South Wales, Australia, in 2024 to gear up for the Richmond Oaks scheduled for March. Isle Rose underwent two months of meticulous preparation for her participation in the Laurels Classic. The training efforts were not solely attributed to MacDonald; two other specialists, Kel and Jacqueline Greenough, also played pivotal roles.
Traditionally held at Perry Barr Stadium in the UK, the Laurels is a classic greyhound racing event utilising a 480-metre track for the races. The victor of the competition stands to claim a substantial prize of £12.5 thousand.
