Honouring Harry Williams on ARC Puppy Final Night at Sunderland

Friday night at Sunderland was a special occasion as the late Harry Williams, affectionately known as 'The Gentleman from Jarrow,' was remembered during a meeting that also featured the prestigious £7,500 Arena Puppy Cup Final.

The night not only highlighted the Arena Puppy Cup Final but also the BGBF Harry Williams Blue Artisan British Bred Final. Both events paid tribute to the legacy of Harry Williams, a beloved local owner, trainer, and breeder. Williams was instrumental in the development of the modern Sunderland Stadium, built on the site of the old flapping track, as part of a dedicated consortium.

For General Manager Joanne Wilson, the evening held extra significance. Her introduction to greyhound racing came through her family's visits to Harry and Rita Williams’ Whitegate House kennel, making the event a heartfelt tribute to a personal mentor and friend.
