Both events paid tribute to the legacy of Harry Williams, a beloved local owner, trainer, and breeder. Williams was instrumental in the development of the modern Sunderland Stadium, built on the site of the old flapping track, as part of a dedicated consortium.
For General Manager Joanne Wilson, the evening held extra significance. Her introduction to greyhound racing came through her family's visits to Harry and Rita Williams’ Whitegate House kennel, making the event a heartfelt tribute to a personal mentor and friend.
